The GA aims to improve the lives of University of California, Berkeley graduate students and to foster a vibrant, inclusive graduate student community. The GA's main thrusts are thus grad student funding/resources, well-being, and advocacy. In this talk, we'll discuss current projects/initiatives, spaces and resources the GA provides, and the roles that you can play in shaping the graduate student experience at Berkeley. We are always looking for department Delegates, so for those interested in policy, event-planning, and advocacy work, becoming involved in the GA may be for you! Using Peerceptiv Peer Review to Increase Collaboration and Engagement

Peerceptiv is a peer collaboration tool designed to enhance student engagement by facilitating peer review and team member evaluation assignments and is now available for all UC Berkeley classes as part of a pilot. Through Peerceptiv, students give and receive actionable feedback on assignments, which supports learning for both the giver and receiver of feedback. This peer assessment technology improves writing and critical thinking skills by engaging students in the role of the teacher. In this live session, you will: Explore various ways Peerceptiv peer assessment is used to increase student engagement and reduce grading time. Learn how it integrates with bCourses. Understand how to set up an assignment in bCourses and in Peerceptiv, enabling you to add peer review to an existing or new assignment in your course. Find out more about Peerceptiv and register.

A Primer to Conduct and Policies

The session will be a guide on reporting different issues of misconduct, while highlighting the limitations of the different policies and offer alternative support mechanisms should students finds themselves facing issues on campus. Cultivating a Respectful Graduate Community: Sexual violence and harassment prevention education for graduate and professional students

The 60 min training on sexual violence and sexual harassment prevention is a required education opportunity that all new graduate students must complete. This training will cover topics such as: the definitions and impact of sexual violence, being an active bystander, how to challenge unhealthy social norms that normalize violence, how to support a friend or colleague impacted by violence or harm, as well as the resources, rights, and options for those impacted by SVSH.
