Did you know? All registered students can access Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS, formerly known as CPS) at University Health Services, regardless of your insurance plan. CAPS offers short-term counseling for a variety of personal, social, and academic concerns, in addition to group counseling where common concerns can be explored with a group of peers. There is no charge for CAPS groups and workshops. Groups offer the opportunity to learn new skills and to share your concerns in a safe environment, by meeting with other students. Some groups are focused on a common concern, such as social anxiety, relationships, transitions, or mood problems. Other groups offer an opportunity for students with a common identity or concern to offer each other support. Topics can be focused on skill-building, such as mindfulness, building healthy relationships, and career planning, or community support, including groups specifically for graduate students. See the CAPS Spring 2019 Group Schedule for more information. All groups require a referral from a CAPS Clinician. To get a referral, contact your CAPS clinician, or call CAPS at 510-642-9494 to schedule a phone triage appointment.
