Professional Development Opportunity for Humanities Doctoral Students The University of California Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI) invites proposals for its Humanists@Work graduate student advisory committee.. Who can apply: Currently enrolled UC Humanities graduate students Deadline: March 18, 2015, 11:59 PST, apply online via FastApps Award: $1,000 stipend; travel & lodging for twice-yearly professional development workshops and a convening meeting at UCHRI Term of participation: May/June 2015-May/June 2016 This is an opportunity for graduate students interested in professional development opportunities in careers outside/alongside the academy to shape the future of alt-ac programs across the UC system while gaining valuable programmatic and logistical work experience. As part of the MLA-funded “Connected Academics: Preparing Doctoral Students of Language and Literature for a Variety of Careers,” UCHRI is seeking 3-5 humanities graduate students to serve as the Humanists@Work advisory committee for our annual workshop series. It is expected that awards will be announced in Spring quarter. Final awards are contingent upon available funding. IP Law/Patents and How it Affects Engineers April 3, 2015 2:30 – 4 pm Bechtel Engineer Center This workshop addresses key points related to the issues and basics of patent law, as presented by UC Berkeley Alumni with 5 years of collective experience in prosecuting patent applications for over 40 BioTech, Software, and Consumer Electronics startups in Silicon Valley and Ann Arbor, MI. Registration will begin 2 weeks before the program date. Advanced registration is strongly recommended! Be sure to mark your calendars and login to Callisto to RSVP and program details.
