Award: $1,000 stipend; travel & lodging for twice-yearly professional development workshops and a convening meeting at UCHRI
Term of participation: May/June 2015-May/June 2016
This is an opportunity for graduate students interested in professional development opportunities in careers outside/alongside the academy to shape the future of alt-ac programs across the UC system while gaining valuable programmatic and logistical work experience. As part of the MLA-funded “Connected Academics: Preparing Doctoral Students of Language and Literature for a Variety of Careers,” UCHRI is seeking 3-5 humanities graduate students to serve as the Humanists@Work advisory committee for our annual workshop series.
It is expected that awards will be announced in Spring quarter. Final awards are contingent upon available funding.
IP Law/Patents and How it Affects Engineers

This workshop addresses key points related to the issues and basics of patent law, as presented by UC Berkeley Alumni with 5 years of collective experience in prosecuting patent applications for over 40 BioTech, Software, and Consumer Electronics startups in Silicon Valley and Ann Arbor, MI.
Registration will begin 2 weeks before the program date. Advanced registration is strongly recommended! Be sure to mark your calendars and login to Callisto to RSVP and program details. This program is intended for Engineering/Chemistry/Physical Science majors, but all students are welcome.
