The Moffitt Makerspace is a free, open access, and entry-level space located on the first floor of the Moffitt Library. Anyone with access to Moffitt library is allowed to use the space and equipment during drop-in hours. If you’d like one-on-one assistance with a tool or project, you can schedule an appointment at berkeley.libcal.com/appointments/make. Resources include sewing machines, vinyl cutters, 3D printers, knitting, crochet and other high and low-tech tools. No prior knowledge or experience necessary, anything you need to know to use our space, we can teach you.

Drop-in Hours: Monday through Friday, 10 a.m.-12:15 p.m. and 1:15-4:15 p.m., pending staff availability

Regular workshops:

Knitting 101
Learn the basics of knitting: cast on, knit, purl, and cast off. Bring your own needles to keep your work. Workshops weekly on Mondays and Fridays 1:15-4:15 p.m. Come back often to keep working on your piece.

Embroidery 101
Learn three embroidery stitches and create a small embroidered patch. Come back often to learn more stitches and grow your embroidery skills. Runs weekly Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Custom Vinyl Decals
Use the Silhouette vinyl cutters to create custom decals for your laptop, water bottle and more. Bring your own laptop and download silhouette studio in advance to help you get started. Workshop runs Tuesday and Thursday from 2-3:30 p.m.

Clothing repair/power pockets
Have a favorite t-shirt with a hole in it? Wish you could hem your own pants? Bring your damaged goods to the Moffitt Makerspace and learn to patch and repair your favorite items. Help reduce waste and learn a valuable skill. Don’t have anything damaged? Learn to add or extend pockets on (almost) any clothing item. Workshops run weekly Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
