Fellowships for a year-long Mellon Foundation Sawyer Seminar A year-long seminar for 2012-2013 on the topic of “Speciesism in biology, culture, and sociopolitics” has been funded by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation under their “Sawyer Seminar” program. Two one-year graduate fellowships are available for academic year 2012-2013. These will have an annual fellowship stipend of $30,000 which is meant to support the fellows’ participation in the seminar and their dissertation research/writing. Operation HOPE Fellowships Operation HOPE is a non-profit organization providing economic education for America’s inner city communities. Operation HOPE improves the economic quality of life for individuals, families and communities through programs that create stakeholders: converting check cashing customers into banking customers, renters into homeowners, small business dreamers into small business owners, and minimum wage workers into living wage worker. General qualifications for HOPE Fellows: graduate or undergraduate students (who have finished their junior year of college) with specialized skills and interest to assist HOPE managers in a specific area. HOPE seeks talented, self-motivated individuals committed to global economic and social justice. Four fellowship positions are available at HOPE’s Los Angeles office. Application deadline: March 23, 2012. HOPE Office of Communication – Assistant Director, Communications and Marketing Duration: June 4 to August 10, 2012. Fellowship stipend is $1,700/month. Office of Field Operations Fellow details Shinnyo Fellowship The Shinnyo Fellowship provides advising and monetary support to undergraduate and graduate students who desire to implement a service, peace-building, and/or sustainable social change project locally, nationally, or globally. Project proposals should be innovative, action-oriented, and emphasize peace-building. Stipend: $3,000. Application deadline: April 2, 2012.
