One of my favorite parts of the academic year is graduation. As those of you who have worked as GSIs, readers, tutors or mentors know, it’s immensely satisfying to watch your students and mentees learn, grow, and be ready for the next step in their lives. I’m thrilled to congratulate so many of you who are completing your degrees. Whether you’ve been here for a while in a doctoral program, or for a couple of years or less in a master’s or professional program, earning a Berkeley graduate degree is a notable accomplishment, one that will stand you in good stead throughout your life. Savor the moment, and make sure that family and friends understand why earning your degree is such a big deal, so that they can celebrate with you. Remember that you will always be part of the Berkeley community, and good luck in your future endeavors, whatever they are and wherever they take you. Fiat Lux, Fiona M. Doyle Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division
