Many of you know that I am retiring in late June. I was delighted last week when EVCP Paul Alivisatos announced that Professor Lisa García Bedolla will succeed me as Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate Division on July 1, 2019. Professor García Bedolla is a Professor of Education and Director of Berkeley’s Institute of Governmental Studies, recognized for her scholarship, teaching and mentorship. She is also known for her dedication to increasing diversity within higher education and for expanding access to undocumented students. I know that with Professor García Bedolla’s commitment to students and their intellectual growth, Berkeley’s graduate education will be in great hands.
