Are you interested in diving deeper into your oral history project?

There’s still time to sign up for The Oral History Center of The Bancroft Library’s 1-week advanced institute August 5 – 9, 2019.

The Advanced Institute is a great skill-building and professional development opportunity. Hone the skills you will need to prepare, conduct, raise funds, and disseminate your work. UC Berkeley’s Oral History Center’s faculty will provide individual attention in a small seminar setting.

Instruction is provided on all aspects of oral history, including theory, legal and ethical issues, project planning, interviewing, editing, fundraising, analysis, and presentation.

Participants are expected to have a project of interest, which they will be able to workshop during the Institute. The Advanced Institute is recommended for graduate students in any field, faculty, postdocs, as well as independent, government, corporate, and museum scholars. Space is limited and the deadline to apply is in June.

Institute alumni go on to publish books, produce documentaries, and use oral history in museum settings based on work begun or skills built during the institute.

Please contact Shanna Farrell, Oral History Center historian and interviewer, with any questions.
