The University of California Botanical Garden at Berkeley announced its annual Redwood Grove Summer Concert Series. (opens in a new tab)
This year, as part of the Stand for the Redwoods celebration of 100 years (opens in a new tab) of redwood forest protection, the Save the Redwoods League (opens in a new tab) is partnering in the presentation of the summer concert series.
The concerts are held every Thursday and special Tuesdays, June through August, in the Botanical Garden’s outdoor amphitheater under towering redwoods. These family- and picnic-friendly shows are held in the golden hours between 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. (We strongly encourage you to ride the Hill Shuttle for free with your campus ID!)
As always, the line-up has something for everyone and includes a wide range of performers, from Grammy-nominated pianist Jovino Santos Neto (opens in a new tab) to the inspiring Young Musicians Choral Orchestra Big Band (opens in a new tab), venerable Americana songwriter Chris Smither (opens in a new tab) to Peruvian indie rock couple Alejandro Y Maria Laura (opens in a new tab). We’re bringing back local favorites like Vetiver (opens in a new tab) and introducing you to new bands like The Low Anthem (opens in a new tab). Opening night is Thursday, June 7, with beautiful African folk music by Yacouba Sissoko and Babá Ken Okulolo & the Nigerian Brothers (opens in a new tab).
In the past few years, all the shows have been completely sold out, so please order early if you plan to come!
