Part of the UC Carbon Neutrality Initiative, the University of California Carbon Slam will bring students from all 10 UC campuses to Silicon Valley to present their climate science and carbon reduction research in three-minute pitches at a live competition before a panel of esteemed judges and guests for a chance to win cash prizes. In addition to student competitors, Carbon Slam will invite and bring together researchers, investors, non-profit and for-profit industry representatives, and community leaders to stimulate new partnerships that will use UC science and innovations to inform state and local policies and drive commercial markets. Attendance is by invitation only. Eligibility: Any student, undergraduate or graduate, in the UC system is invited to submit an application to represent their campus in either the Climate Science or Climate Solutions competitions. To learn more about the categories of competition and to apply, visit the UC Carbon Slam website and the Berkeley Sustainability website. For more information on Carbon Slam, contact Sue Carter. Applications are due April 10, 2016.
