April 17 @ 3:00 PM - 5:00 PM GPT Fundamentals Online via Zoom This workshop offers a general introduction to the GPT (Generative Pretrained Transformers) model. We will explore how they reflect and shape our cultural narratives and social interactions, and which drawbacks and constraints they have. We will explore the transformer architecture upon which GPTs are built, how GPTs encode natural language into embeddings, and how it predicts text. We will also use geometric similarity approaches to represent varying types of similarity between words.

Many graduate students dread having to prepare and deal with the QE. For some their anxiety interferes with preparing reading lists, studying or even setting a date. Amy Honigman, Ph.D. from Counseling and Psychological Services is a Wellness Specialist for Graduate Students. Dr. Honigman will be offering two workshops on preparing for the Qualifying Exam. We will cover how to deal with feeling overwhelmed by the material, reducing anxiety, staying motivated, keeping perspective, how to deal with oral presentations and self care.
