Ample evidence from research in education across disciplines has shown that actively engaging students in their learning process has numerous benefits. To facilitate engagement, instructors can incorporate a variety of active learning strategies into their teaching, from minute papers to case studies. Yet, with the extensive list of strategies available, how do we choose activities to best support student learning in our particular courses? In this interactive workshop, participants will collaboratively explore considerations for selecting active learning strategies for different teaching and learning goals. Participants will also consider logistics of implementation and ways to informally gauge the effectiveness of the approach in their course contexts.
