We invite you to join the discussion of career development and experiences shared by three outstanding women from Women in Bio San Francisco Bay Area Chapter.

Speakers

Dr. Christine Meda is the Chief Business Officer at IncellDx, a molecular diagnostics company dedicated to revolutionizing healthcare one cell at a time. She has thirty years of leadership in the diagnostic and pharmaceutical industries. Her management responsibilities have included CEO of Arcxis Biotechnologies; President of Response Genetics where her role included company financing, creation of strategic business direction and plans; operations and commercialization of more than thirty products for various disease areas at Hoffman-LaRoche, Bio-Rad Laboratories, Diagnostics Products Corporation (now Siemens), Meridian Diagnostics and Schering AG pharmaceuticals. Dr. Meda also serves as the National Sponsorship Chair for Women in Bio, an organization of professionals committed to promoting careers, leadership, and entrepreneurship of women in the life sciences.

Dr. Barbara McClung is the Chief Legal Officer at Caribou Biosciences, Inc., a company founded by UC Berkeley scientists to drive the commercialization of applications of CRISPR systems. Ms. McClung is responsible for all legal functions at Caribou, including intellectual property strategy and portfolio management, contracts, corporate transactions, litigation, board governance, and employment law. She has thirty years of legal experience, with a focus on intellectual property, at various biotech companies, including Intarcia, Cygnus, Chiron and DuPont. Ms. McClung received her J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and her B.A. from UC San Diego.

Dr. Bridget O’Keeffe is the Director of Clinical Sciences in Global Medical Affairs at Clovis Oncology, a biopharmaceutical company focused on molecular-targeted drug development for oncology. Dr. O’Keeffe graduated from the UC Berkeley MCB program in 2003. Following a brief post-doctoral position in the Department of Nutrition at UC Berkeley, she went on to explore other potential careers in science. This led her to an Executive Fellowship in the CA Governor’s Office and then to medical communications. Eventually she began working directly in industry where she developed her career in Regulatory medical writing and clinical science. She has previously held positions at Exelixis and Genentech.
