Event Information

In the complex governance structure of higher education institutions, policies are often written with a sense of finality, yet the way they are practiced in the daily life of a campus is far more nuanced. This tension is at the heart of our upcoming virtual roundtable, where we will explore the practical realities of institutional policy and the implementation of restorative justice within the realms of conflict and conduct.

While this conversation will specifically focus on restorative justice in the context of academic integrity violations, it serves as a broader window into how we navigate the space between rigid institutional frameworks and human-centered resolution.

We will be joined by a panel of staff, students, and faculty to explore the friction points that often impede restorative initiatives.

This event will be moderated by Graduate Division’s Director of Graduate Academic Conduct and Climate, Burcu Tung, PhD, FHE Postdoc Hallie Smith, PhD and Student Advocate from Berkeley’s Student Advocate’s Office, Maureen Kang.

Please register in advance. We look forward to engaging in this important conversation with you.
