Graduate school gives you the opportunity to dive more deeply into the area of your choice. It’s never too early to think about and prepare for grad school. These programs can help UC Berkeley undergraduates get started.

Getting into Grad School (GiGS) is a collaborative partnership between the Office for Graduate Diversity (OGD), and the Graduate Assembly (GA), whose ultimate goal is to encourage and prepare undergraduate UC Berkeley students to select, apply, and enroll in graduate school.

Marco Antonio Firebaugh Scholars Program provides funding and academic support to undergraduates to design and complete an independent faculty-sponsored research project over the course of one academic year; we also prepare scholars to apply to graduate school and post-baccalaureate opportunities in hopes of continuing to diversify the faculty and researchers at colleges and universities across the United States.

Undergraduate research programs, including scholarships and fellowships, are designed to involve Berkeley undergraduates more deeply in the research life of the university. Numerous opportunities are available for undergrads to work with faculty and staff researchers on the cutting edge research projects for which Berkeley is world-renowned. Students will be able to deepen their knowledge and skills in areas of special interest, while experiencing what it means to be part of an intellectual community engaged in research.
