Prospective American Indian Graduate Students

Find where you belong

We’re growing a vital Native American graduate community at Berkeley. Come be a part of it.

Just as important as finding a graduate program that aligns with your academic and professional goals, is finding a welcoming environment that honors your unique Indigenous experience and enables you to thrive in your studies. Through the American Indian Graduate Program (AIGP), you’ll find a diverse community of faculty, fellow graduate students, and professionals conducting research rooted in the unique conditions of Indigenous-based histories, cultures, and conditions, and who are dedicated to your success.

AIGP provides direct assistance to incoming and prospective students, with financial aid information, advice and resources to guide you toward the best decision to advance your academic career.

Financial Support for Native American Students

For newly accepted and current Native American UC students who are California residents, there may be financial support that you might be eligible for.

UC’s Native American Opportunity Plan provides that in-state system-wide tuition and student services fees are fully covered for California students who are also enrolled in federally recognized Native American, American Indian, and Alaska Native tribes.

If you think you qualify or have questions, prospective and current students are encouraged to contact the AIGP Coordinator at [email protected] and [email protected].
