Revising: Editing Your Writing

Editing is where your ideas come into focus. In this interactive workshop, we’ll approach editing as a set of decisions you can practice: sentence by sentence, line by line, figuring out what helps you get your point across. We’ll start together, editing a paragraph as a group. Then you’ll turn to your own writing and make two quick calls: one sentence to cut, one to keep. Finally, you’ll exchange feedback with a peer and decide which of their edits to take and which to leave. The goal of the workshop is to gain confidence in your own editorial judgment, and develop a clearer sense of how to use it.
