T. Geronimo Johnson Alumnus T. Geronimo Johnson has received much attention since the recent publication of his second novel, “Welcome to Braggsville.” The book depicts four fictional UC Berkeley students who travel to Braggsville, Georgia, to protest the town’s praise of the Confederacy during its Civil War reenactments. The book’s main character, Daron Davenport, a first-generation college student from Braggsville, leads the Berkeley foursome cross-country. An unlikely death during their staged protest places Davenport in the middle of a media frenzy, leading to unexpected outcomes. Johnson earned his Master’s degree in language, literacy and culture at the Graduate School of Education, and is the Director of the UC Berkeley Summer Creative Writing Program.
