Overview

The UC Berkeley School of Public Health offers a 42-unit Online Master of Public Health (MPH) degree designed for working professionals seeking to expand their expertise and leadership in public health. Completed over 27 months (seven consecutive semesters), the program combines the flexibility of online learning with opportunities for in-person engagement through two required summer campus visits at UC Berkeley.

The curriculum begins with six core and breadth courses that provide a strong foundation in public health practice and population health sciences, including health and social behavior, environmental health sciences, health policy and management, epidemiology, biostatistics, and interdisciplinary public health approaches. Students then customize their academic experience by choosing one of the following concentrations:

Epidemiology & Biostatistics

Health Policy & Management

Food, Nutrition and Population Health

Interdisciplinary

Delivered approximately 90% online, the program allows students to pursue a Berkeley MPH from anywhere while continuing their professional careers. The two immersive summer visits bring students, faculty, and staff together for academic programming, career development, networking, and community-building activities. Through its combination of rigorous coursework, specialization options, practical learning experiences, and flexible delivery format, the Online MPH program prepares graduates to address complex public health challenges and improve health outcomes in diverse communities.
