I’d like to extend several invitations to you, two live and in person, and two online and anytime. They’re all about, in a popular phrase, continuing the conversation. As a member of the graduate community, and particularly as a student, if you have a concern about graduate education at Berkeley or about the Graduate Division, on Thursday, February 9, you can bring it up directly to me. I’m holding a Town Hall with the Graduate Dean as a way of opening a new line of communication. Also in early February — on a date to be announced — will be the third in the series of campus forums on the future of public universities, all held in the Student Union’s Pauley Ballroom. The topic of this forum will be “The Economics of Higher Education.” The series is organized by the deans of Berkeley’s colleges and professional schools. Again, more details are below. To provide more information quickly, on a frequency you may already use, the Graduate Division is now on Facebook and Twitter. We’ll keep you up to date there on approaching opportunities and deadlines — and announcements like the date of the third forum and the location of the town hall. And we hope to hear from you. Please join us at any and all of these! Best, Andrew J. Szeri Dean of the Graduate Division
