Enroll in Courses before Dec. 29, 2019 to Continue to Access SHIP and Other Services Published: November 7, 2019 By: Kathleen Aycock Spring 2020 Continuing Student Reminder As we approach the spring semester, here are some important reminders and deadlines for you to keep in mind: Enroll in Courses You’ll need to enroll in at least one course before Dec. 29, 2019 to maintain continuous access to the Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) and University Health Services, Recreational Sports Facility (RSF), campus libraries, University Housing, and more. If you enroll after Dec. 29, 2019, your coverage will backdate as effective on January 1, but may not show up immediately in CalCentral. Take Action on SHIP For students to show as actively insured as of January 1, you MUST be enrolled in at least .5 units (even if it is just a PE class which gets dropped later). If you have not enrolled in any units to date, do so now! Want to waive SHIP? The waiver period for Spring 2020 SHIP opens Monday, December 2, 2019, and all waiver applications must be received by January 1, 2020. For more information about waiver deadlines, check the SHIP website. Fellowships, fee remissions, and financial aid Fellowship awards (including stipends), fee remissions, and loans will disburse only AFTER you’ve enrolled in Spring units; the standard disbursement date for Spring stipends is January 13, 2020.
