Graduate students, postdocs, and visiting scholars: if you are receiving support through any National Institutes of Health (NIH) training grant, career development award, research education grant, or dissertation research grant, you are subject to a new requirement for a minimum of eight hours of classroom training in the responsible conduct of research (RCR) before your grant review deadline in order to keep your funding. Previous online training is no longer acceptable. FREE training for eligible grant holders is available on campus this fall through UC Berkeley Extension. Training begins in October, and you must apply to attend. The application deadline is August 30, 2011. Course and application details are available online at UC Berkeley Extension’s Required Training in the Responsible Conduct of Research page. Funding for this training is provided in collaboration with UC Berkeley’s Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, the College of Engineering, and the College of Letters and Science. Additional training will be offered in 2012 for applicants with later grant review deadlines. For questions, please contact Victoria Sharma.
