Say goodbye to the”Classic” MELVYL library catalog as of June 24, 2011

UC library collections have been searchable  for several years via two versions of the MELVYL catalog. The “Classic” MELVYL library catalog (the catalog for all 10 UC campuses) will be decommissioned on June 24, 2011. If you are still using this version of the MELVYL catalog, please move any saved items, searches or automatic updates to “Next Generation” MELVYL. For previews, visit “Classic MELVYL” and Next Generation” MELVYL (the latter has already been the link to MELVYL from the UCB Library home page for some time). If you have any questions, please contact Corliss Lee ([email protected]) or try out the 24/7 chat reference service.

The Library’s now available on your phone

Need to search the library catalog or find out how late we’re open, but there’s no computer available? You can now do these things and more on a smartphone or small tablet. The UC Berkeley Libraries’ new mobile website, located at mobile.lib.berkeley.edu, is designed to display clearly on small screens. It lets you search OskiCat, look up today’s and tomorrow’s hours for campus libraries, ask us a question, get contact information for major library units and subject specialists, find library locations on a campus map, and check our events calendar. More details. Or try it out on your phone: mobile.lib.berkeley.edu.

Reminder: Equitrac copy cards expire on June 30, 2011

As part of a transition in vendors for the library’s copying and computer printing services, the Equitrac “copy cards” that have been in use for several years will be honored only until June 30, 2011. Any unused value on the Equitrac cards will be lost after that date. Refunds of unused value will not be available. (For more details, read the library blog entry .)
