The Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC) is a graduate-student cooperative that aims to connect and educate members about complex energy and environmental problems. Past activities have included field trips to the Calpine Delta Energy Center, membership socials, and a carbon-negative panel workshop. BERC maintains a blog with the latest issues in the world of sustainability, as well as various competitions and projects for climate change solutions. The past fall, BERC hosted its annual Energy Innovation Expo and Energy Summit, a conference bringing together over 400 participants in dialogue and collaboration about the future of the energy landscape.

Here are a some ways to get involved with BERC and connect with the broader energy and environmental community at UC Berkeley.

1. REGISTER AND GET THE WEEKLY BERC
By creating an account on this website, you will have the option to subscribe to the Weekly BERC — a summary of all the important events, opportunities, and happenings at UC Berkeley.  (Create an account by clicking on the top right orange “Join” button).

2. JOIN THE LINKEDIN GROUP AND FACEBOOK PAGE
BERC intends to provide the right mix of professional opportunities as well as fun gatherings and happy hours to continue building and strengthening our community.

3. COME TO EVENTS AND PROGRAMS
The best way to learn what BERC has to offer is to participate in one of the dozens of events and programs hosted throughout the year. Check out the BERC Calendar (or sync it with your calendar) to stay on top of what is going on.

4. HOST AN EVENT OR PROGRAM
BERC is as grassroots as it gets. It is the sum of efforts and passions that each student brings to the group. If you are ready for the next step, consider organizing a BERC workshop or pitch a program around your area of interest. BERC can support your event or program by helping you find a venue, connect you with speakers, sponsors, and market the event. To learn more contact the VPs of Events or Programs.

5. JOIN THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
Being part of the BERC Leadership Team builds relationships, provides valuable experience, and offers access to exciting and unique professional opportunities. Applications for BERC leadership positions are available on the BERC Website every November; selections are made in December. BERC leaders serve for one year from December to November of the following year. Both undergraduate and graduate students can apply to lead any aspect of BERC. BERC leaders are the backbone of the organization and keep the BERC wheels turning. To see which leadership positions are available, see the current leadership team roster. If you would like to learn more about a specific leadership position, please contact the person who is in that leadership position.
