Overview

The Office for Graduate Diversity and Berkeley Graduate Division are pleased to announce stipends for undocumented graduate students. This financial award is intended to fill a critical gap in graduate and professional student support. Priority for funding will be given based on need and to those who are not eligible for other sources of support.

Applications are reviewed for the current semester only starting on the 6th week!

Award

Eligible graduate students, including professional school students, are invited to apply for the UC Berkeley Stipend. Awards will vary based on need. Selected applicants will be required to either mentor an undergraduate student and/or engage with the Office of Graduate Diversity.

Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be an enrolled, undocumented UC Berkeley graduate student in good academic standing
  • AB 540 or non-AB540 students are eligible to apply
  • For all professional development requests, we can only provide reimbursement to students
  • Formerly undocumented students are welcome to apply, however, undocumented students will receive priority
  • Incoming and recently admitted students are not eligible to apply in the summer period
How to Apply

Applications will be evaluated using the following criteria:

  • Demonstration of financial need
  • Academic achievements and promise
Application packages should include the following:
  • A completed application form
  • A budget plan spreadsheet
  • Note: A letter of recommendation from a faculty member may be provided, but is completely optional
