UC Libraries and their partners are collaborating on another UC-wide “Love Data Week” from February 12-16, 2024. This will be a jam-packed week of talks, presentations, and workshops all about data! All members of the UC community are invited to attend these events to gain hands-on experience, learn about resources, and engage in discussions about data. In this workshop, we cover how to scrape data from the web using Python. Web scraping involves downloading a webpage's source code and sifting through the material to extract desired data.

If you are a graduate student, postdoc or early stage founder who even remotely are curious about how some of your fellow researchers raised money to build a startup from professional investors (Angel investors and Venture capitalists), attend this event to hear from founders and investors sharing some of their experiences from building startups- raising/investing money, some of the mistakes they made and that you could avoid, and best practices. Raising money from investors is one of the biggest challenges you will face if you want to build a startup. Luckily, many have done this successfully and are willing to share the lessons learned. Our speakers have experience raising and also investing in startups. Come have some pizza, hang out with fellow grad students, postdocs and founders listening to our phenomenal speakers; and interact with them during panel discussion and networking later.
