Successful Proposal-Writing for the Social Sciences and Humanities: A Graduate Student Workshop

April 15, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 2:30 pm

Prof. Suad Joseph, UC Davis

Center for Middle Eastern Studies

Join the CMES for a workshop on funding your research interests. This seminar will address how to develop the key components of a “maximal” research proposal – components required in most research proposals regardless of the format or funding agency. How do you move from the “maximal” proposal to a “targeted” proposal? How do you research funding agencies? Revise and resubmit? Negotiate terms?

Participants who RSVP in advance will have an opportunity to submit a one-page abstract to workshop with Prof. Joseph during the session. Lunch will be provided. RSVP to Lydia Kiesling, lydiak@berkeley.edu.

Suad Joseph is Distinguished Professor of Anthropology and Gender, Sexuality and Women and Gender Studies and Faculty Advisor to the Chancellor at the University of California, Davis. Her research focuses on family and state, children/youth, gender and citizenship in the Middle East, with an emphasis on her native Lebanon. She has taught proposal-writing at UC Davis for over 30 years.
