A subcommittee of the Graduate Council will convene to consider the nominations. The following criteria will be used:
- A nominee must embody attributes of high quality mentoring, such as those described in the Best Practices for Faculty Mentoring of Graduate Students adopted by the Graduate Council on March 6, 2006 (or subsequent revisions).
- A nominee may receive each Sarlo Award only once.
After the subcommittee has reviewed nominations for each award, recommendations will be forwarded to the Graduate Council for approval. The 2012 Award ceremony, open to the public and held in conjunction with the Graduate Assembly’s Faculty Mentoring Award ceremony, will be held on Wednesday, April 18, 2012 from 4 - 6 p.m.
A $5000 honorarium accompanies both of the Sarlo Distinguished Graduate Student Mentoring Awards, for junior and senior faculty. Recipients will be profiled in campus publications.
