Welcome back to campus! I hope your break was refreshing. (I gained new perspectives from volunteering at a medical clinic in Battambang, Cambodia. We tended to thousands of patients!)

Here’s good news to start the spring semester:

A personalized one-stop web service — called CalCentral — has just been released to all campus constituencies. This portal app designed for students, faculty, and staff brings together several web-based campus tools into one location.

Graduate students can access up-to-date academic and financial information consolidated from Bear Facts, Tele-BEARS, CARS, and MyFinAid.  For GSIs, a key feature is the ability to view in one place the classes they are teaching, with easy access to their bCourses and bSpace sites.

Students will find four main tabs or areas:

My Dashboard — displays bConnected email, bCalendar, and bDrive notifications, as well as timely alerts about registration status, blocks, financial aid messages, and bCourses assignment information

My Academics — consolidates learning and teaching history. Includes detailed class enrollment information, college and major, units, GPA, Tele-BEARS appointment information, and the bSpace and/or bCourses courses you are enrolled in or teaching.

My Finances — review CARS billing information in an easy-to-view statement that includes details about recent charges, payments and disbursements.

My Campus — provides centralized links to academic, administrative, personal, and campus life resources — from discovering collaboration tools to finding a list of all of UC Berkeley’s museums, and more.

To access CalCentral with your CalNet ID and password, go to calcentral.berkeley.edu. More information about the CalCentral project is available: https://ets.berkeley.edu/calcentral.

I wish you well for a productive and satisfying semester!
