Shilpa Raja, who recently received her doctoral degree from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, was awarded a Graduate Student “Gold” Award at the 2016 MRS Fall Meeting in Boston.

The MRS Graduate Student Awards honor and encourage graduate students whose academic achievements and current materials research display a high order of excellence and distinction. The awards recognize students of exceptional ability who show promise for future substantial achievement in materials research. Emphasis is placed on the quality of the student and his/her research ability.

Raja, whose Special Talk Session at the MRS Fall Meeting was on Mechanisms of local stress sensing in multifunctional polymer films using fluorescent tetrapod nanocrystals, currently holds a postdoctoral research appointment at Stanford University. Congratulations, Shilpa!
