The Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) and University Microfilms International (UMI) will present three 2013-2014 awards: WAGS/UMI Innovation in Technology Award This award will be given to a master’s thesis or a doctoral dissertation for the development of an innovative technology and its utilization for the creative solution of a major problem. Nominees must have earned the master’s or doctoral degree within the period of July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013. The award includes a certificate, $1,500 to the recipient, and travel expenses for the student and student’s adviser to receive the award at the annual meeting of the Association. WAGS/UMI Distinguished Master’s Thesis Award This award recognizes distinguished scholarly achievement at the master’s level in any discipline in which the institution offers a master’s degree. The eligible scholarly product eligible is a formal written thesis. A nominee must have earned the master’s degree within the period of July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013. The award includes a certificate, $1,000 to the recipient, and travel expenses for the student and the student’s adviser to receive the award at the annual meeting of the Association. The eligible scholarly product eligible for this competition is a formal written thesis. A nominee must have earned the master’s degree within the period of July 1, 2012-June 30, 2013.
