Fiona M. Doyle, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate DivisionWalking around campus, I see students settling into the 2018 – 19 academic year. This can mean very different things for different graduate students — taking classes, teaching classes, planning experiments or writing research proposals and papers. But regardless of your academic program, I urge you to take some time to explore the broader Berkeley campus. Visit different parts of the campus, venture into a few intriguing buildings, and bookmark the campus events webpage for an ever-changing menu of movies, concerts, lectures, sporting events and exhibits.

This is the time of year to be applying for fellowships — which we are featuring in this month’s GradNews. I look forward to seeing some of you at the upcoming NSF fellowship application workshop. We also highlight information on our Career Center and upcoming career fairs — it’s never too early to be exploring career options.

Finally, if you feel that you can’t possibly fit these activities into your schedule, our time management tips below may help!
