Headshot of Lisa Garcia BedollaAs we approach the end of November, semester deadlines and holidays can add additional stress and take us out of our usual routines. I urge you to do whatever it takes to help yourself manage your stress — take breaks, exercise, spend time with friends and loved ones, or whatever else brings you joy. In case you need additional support, I wanted to take a moment to highlight the campus wellness resources and services that are specifically designed to meet graduate student needs.

The Graduate Wellness Center in Eshleman Hall is an excellent resource for graduate-focused wellness and mental health services. Visit the Graduate Assembly’s website to make an appointment with counselors who specialize in graduate life, and view graduate-specific support groups offered by University Health Services. Because wellness is personal, multi-dimensional, and people’s needs are frequently change, consider using the new recalibrate website to help you navigate information, resources, and tools to find the support you need based on how you are feeling.

The staff of the Graduate Division join all our campus partners in offering support as needed related to exceptions, deadline extensions, and resource referral, so please contact us if you have needs that are not met by the other resources you’ve been offered.

Finally, in light of the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge that UC Berkeley sits on the unceded land of the Chochenyo Ohlone.

Warmly,

Lisa García Bedolla

Vice Provost for Graduate Studies
and Dean of the Graduate Division
