Fiona M. Doyle, Vice Provost for Graduate Studies and Dean of the Graduate DivisionWelcome back to Berkeley and our Spring 2019 semester. I hope that you had a relaxing and reinvigorating winter break, and are looking forward to new classes, new research breakthroughs, and perhaps teaching for the first time.

It is becoming increasingly important that today’s graduate students integrate their academic program-related work with broader professional development activities, and this month’s GradNews highlights a few different GradPro activities.

I’m particularly excited to welcome ten fantastic Professional Development Liaisons (PDLs), all Berkeley graduate students, who are working to learn about the professional development needs of students in different departments, and develop new resources. Do read more about this new program, and reach out to one of our PDLs to brainstorm your needs.

And talking of needs, everyone needs funding!  Be sure to review our Guide to Fellowships and Grants.

Best wishes,
