Big Ideas Offers Competition & Funding Opportunities!
D-Prize Social Venture Competition
Pitch your idea in a two-page concept note for a new NGO or venture that solves a “distribution challenge” on the D-Prize website. Up to 30 entrepreneurs will be given seed funding to launch, with awards up to $20,000 to launch a pilot in any region where extreme poverty exists. Apply by August 20.
What Design Can Do Climate Action Challenge
This Challenge is a global design competition that calls on the creative community to submit innovative ideas for helping people adapt to climate change. The challenge specifically focusses on the poorest and most vulnerable people, particularly in the Global South, who will suffer the brunt of climate change. Winners are eligible for a share of the €900.000 award package and are invited to join an accelerator program. Join by August 21.
Fall 2017 Social Innovator OnRamp Course
This hands-on course introduces students to case work, best practices, and the tools necessary to turn ideas for the social sector into viable products and services. Funding is available for startups at the conclusion of the course. Open to teams of undergraduate and graduate students. See more information on the Big Ideas website.

UC Berkeley and 14 federal funding agencies will provide 350 entrepreneurs the opportunity to partner directly with federal SBIR/STTR program managers to help attendees gain access to $2M in funding.
Impact Design Education Summit November 6 | 9:00am-3:00pm | Blum Center For Developing Economies, UC Berkeley
With support from the Autodesk Foundation, this summit will bring together educators and practitioners to discuss the state of university-based impact design education. Sessions will highlight best practices and learnings, with a focus on how to integrate gender dimensions, entrepreneurship training, and 21st century skills into design impact curricula and pedagogies.
