Berkeley’s Cleantech University Prize (#CleantechUP17) is now accepting applications. The Berkeley CUP is a clean energy startup competition sponsored by the Department of Energy and hosted by the Berkeley Energy and Climate Institute (BECI) and the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC).

Students at universities across the U.S. are invited to submit their innovative clean-tech ideas for a chance to partake in a 15-week mentorship and training program (teams must be at least 50% students). Selected student teams will compete for a $50,000 grand prize, and winning teams will advance to the DOE’s Cleantech University Prize National Conference where they will compete for an additional $100,000.

Applications are now available online until October 31, 2016. Teams will be selected by November 9, 2016. Teams will present their ideas at the BERC Energy Summit in February 2017 at UC Berkeley, where the winning team will be selected.
