Berkeley’s Cleantech University Prize (#CleantechUP18) is now accepting applications. The Berkeley CUP is a clean energy startup competition sponsored by the Department of Energy and hosted by the Berkeley Energy and Climate Institute (BECI) and the Berkeley Energy and Resources Collaborative (BERC).

Students at universities across the U.S. are invited to submit their innovative clean-tech ideas and have a chance to partake in an 8-week mentorship and training program (teams must be at least 50% students).

Selected student teams will compete for a $50,000 grand prize, and winning teams will advance to the DOE’s Cleantech University Prize National Conference where they will compete for an additional $100,000. This year there will be an additional prize at the national level for operational energy technologies sponsored by the Department of Defense.

Applications are available online until February 26, 2018, and teams will be selected by March 2. Teams will present their ideas at a pitch competition to be held in April.
