Low-Cost Self-Defense for Women*
Sponsored by Gender Equity Resource Center, Recreational Sports, Residence Life and UCPD
Learn how to increase awareness and assertiveness skills. As a risk-reduction program, we talk about voice, boundaries, options for someone who may be attacked, and discuss the realities of sexual violence and sexual harassment, including dating violence in our community. The R.A.D. System (http://www.rad-systems.com) is a 9-12 hour comprehensive, women-only course that begins with risk awareness and progresses to the basics of hands-on defense training. Please wear comfortable clothing and athletic shoes. Bring a pen for taking notes, a towel, water and food for yourself.
* We welcome all who experience life through the lens of woman in body, spirit, identity – past, present, future, and fluid.
