Thriving in Science Seminar: Unconscious Bias and Discussion of ‘Lab Girl’

The next Thriving in Science seminar is co-hosted with UAW Local 5810, The Union for Postdoc at UC. The seminar will feature two speakers, Cat Adams from the Unconscious Bias Project, and Professor Hope Jahren from the University of Hawaii.

Cat Adams will discuss her work at the Uncouscious Bias Project on how to recognize words and actions that arise from unconscious bias, and then how to reduce the harmful effects of bias. Professor Jahren, author of Lab Girl, will discuss her critically-acclaimed new memoir shedding insight on life inside the lab.

There will be pizza at 5.15 PM in the B1 atrium of Stanley Hall, and the talk will be followed by a beer and wine networking mixer in the B1 atrium for those who RSVP.
