Careers & Community: “Nailing the job talk!”

December 1 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

After months of anxious silence, the voice on the other end of the phone says, “We’d like to invite you for an on-campus interview.” You gleefully discuss schedules, airports, and other arrangements until the voice mentions “and of course we’re all looking forward to your Job Talk”. Your stomach clenches. But don’t worry we’ve got you covered!

This chat and snack will give you a chance to ask all your questions regarding: how to structure your presentation, how much detail to include, how to pitch it (small college vs. university), what are they really looking for, and so much more!

Please join the GA and Graduate Student Career Center Specialist Andrew Green, himself a survivor of the academic job market and member of many search committees for the first in the GA’s Getting Out of Grad School Chats and Snacks: How to Conquer the Job Talk. Light refreshments, beer and wine will be served.

Event is FREE but registration required: sign up through eventbrite!

P.S. Limited tickets! Please bring Cal ID and legal ID (21+) for verification.
